DSM – Digital Surface Model

DTM – Digital Terrain Model

ORI– Orthorectified Radar Imagery

Digital Surface Model

  • Height model of surface detected – gives height of buildings, forests, hedges etc
  • 5m Post (essentially 1 point every 5m resolution)
  • 0.5 RSME
  • Processing to flatten and smooth lakes, airports, roads etc.  Also prevented saddles in drainage systems
  • Ideal for 3D Models, Draping Aerial Photography, Orthorectification etc
  • Height model of bare earth surface – so does not show hedges, trees, buildings etc
  • 5m or 10m Post (essentially 5m or 10m resolution)
  • 0.7 RSME
  • Processing to flatten and smooth lakes, airports, roads etc.  Also prevented saddles in drainage systems
  • Ideal for flood modelling, Contour mapping etc
  • Appears like black and white aerial photography at a glance
  • 1.25m resolution
  • Does not vary in colour of surfaces – just roughness and moisture content. Forests are quite rough so may appear brighter than a road which is relatively smooth
  • Excellent for viewing linear features (roads, rivers, hedges etc)
  • No clouds as these are transparent for radar
