Air photography is much more than just a pretty
picture! It is an invaluable snapshot of exactly what a particular place looked
like at a known time. Unlike a map where the content represents the distillation
of the map maker's judgment (and may or may not be up to date), you can be
confidant that the air photo shows it all just as it was. More than that, our
ortho-photos are map accurate to within a few metres of the National Grid, so
you can use them in GIS, CAD, etc safe in the knowledge that your plans and maps
will fit correctly.
XYZ are now the leading specialists in this area in
Scotland. We can provide historic imagery of all of Scotland from the late 1940s (with historic OS maps to match if you wish) and also the 1988 Scottish Office survey. We have photography from 2006 of Strathclyde at a resolution of 12.5cm, and Edinburgh at 10cm in
conjunction with our partners at Getmapping and Bluesky, and for many years we have been teamed up with
Getmapping to bring you the first ever fully colour and fully digital air photograph of
Scotland. The Scottish National Millennium Map is
now over 80% complete. If you are interested in coverage outside Scotland, we have modern imagery available to view and buy online for all of England and Wales and parts of Scotland in our online order system.
